The University of Pennsylvania Working Papers in Linguistics (PWPL) are published by the Penn Linguistics Club, the organization of linguistics graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania.

PWPL publishes two volumes per year:

  • Proceedings of the annual Penn Linguistics Colloquium (PLC)
  • Selected Papers from New Ways of Analyzing Variation (NWAV)

In addition, we publish an occasional volume of working papers written by students and faculty in the department.

    ORDERING INFORMATION top of page

    Past, present and future volumes can be ordered from the Penn Linguistics Club. All orders from individuals must be pre-paid. Use our order form or just refer to the following information:

    Volumes 4.1, 7.3, 8.3, 10.2, 11.1 and 12.1 cost $18 U.S.; all other volumes cost $15 U.S.

    There is currently no charge for shipping (this includes international orders).

    We are now able to accept credit card orders. Buy volumes at Kagi. Kagi accepts all major credit cards, and shopping at kagi is secure. There is a small fee for purchasing with a credit card ($3 for one volume, $5 for two or more volumes).

    If paying with check or money order, please make them out to "Penn Linguistics Club". Please do not order volumes by email; we can only process pre-paid orders. Send to:

    SUBMITTING TO THE WORKING PAPERS top of page

    Local Working Papers volumes are published on an occasional basis. Calls for Papers are posted to the penguists mailing list (see this page for more on the mail list).

    Papers for Conference volumes are solicited in conjunction with a conference, as appropriate. No open call for papers is issued.

    Author Agreement: By submitting your paper to PWPL, you agree to the terms constained in our Author Agreement. We now publish as a free-access journal online.

    Submission style: Once a paper is accepted for inclusion in a PWPL volume, authors must submit it according to the PWPL submission guidelines.
